HCRIS is CMS's filed Medicare cost-report dataset — every Medicare-participating hospital files annually with 2,500+ fields covering bed count, payer-day mix, patient revenue, allowances, operating expenses, and net income. The X-Ray engine finds the 25-50 true peer hospitals for any target (matched on size cohort, state, payer mix, and fiscal year), computes 15 derived RCM / cost / margin metrics, and flags where the target lies inside, above, or below the peer P25-P75 band.
